What zero latency means

Every civilization to date has run on a delay. You want a thing, you ask for the thing, and the world takes days or decades to respond. That delay is latency, and for most of history it was so large that we mistook it for the natural order. Distance was latency. Bureaucracy was latency. Ignorance was latency wearing a costume.

Q1 Will everyone get access to superintelligence? Thesis

Sean's answer is yes, and without conditions. Intelligence at that level belongs in the same category as water pressure and literacy. Rationing it by wealth would manufacture the deepest inequality in human history inside a single decade, and it would do so quietly, one subscription tier at a time.

The practical position: a universal access layer, funded the way roads and courts are funded, with capability that scales to a person's own consent and chosen pace rather than to a bank balance. People who want less speed get less speed, at any time, for any reason. Nobody gets locked out, and nobody gets dragged in.

No parliament can steer at machine speed, so governance splits into layers that move at different speeds. Constitutional constraints are enforced at machine speed and amended only at human speed. Values, rights, and the constraints themselves stay under slow, deliberate, human control, with a standing and rehearsed power to halt.

05 / The Safeguards Thesis

The Preserve, and what protects the people in it

The Preserve is a transitional metaverse in the oldest sense of the word: a world alongside the world, built with care, entered by choice. Some people will need years to meet a zero latency civilization on their own terms. Some will never want to, and that refusal is a complete and honorable answer. A society is judged by how it treats the people who say no to it.

So the Preserve is defined less by what it contains than by the guarantees wrapped around it. These are non-negotiable, and every one of them is designed to be auditable from both sides of the door.

Entry by consent

Nobody is assigned to the Preserve. No court, employer, algorithm, insurer, or family may send a person there. The only ticket in is a freely made choice.

Freedom of exit

Leaving takes one act of will and zero paperwork. Returning works the same way. Exit latency is monitored like a vital sign, because a slow door is a wall in disguise.

Equal rights

One commitment underneath everything here does not bend: every person chooses the speed of their own life. The fast world stays open to the slow. The slow world stays open to the fast. Readiness belongs to the person and to no institution, and no one's yesterday decides their tomorrow.
